Are you a fundraising service like GoFundMe?

This question is probably the most frequently asked: do we fundraise for individuals or campaigns?

One of my favorite stories was when Raise the Money was traveling to the National Conference of State Legislatures’ Annual Meeting located in Minneapolis this year. A man came up to me and asked, “Do you help people raise money for making potato salad?” I’m sure my face gave away my confusion as he explained that some sites allow anyone to raise money for whatever their fundraising goals happen to be. This particular person wanted to make it a fundraising goal to buy the ingredients for the best potato salad in the world!

Anyway, the point of that silly story was to clarify what Raise the Money actually does. We are a payment processing company that gives candidates, PAC’s, and committees the ability to accept and manage their online contributions. We give our clients the tools to fundraise and make it very easy and accessible, but we do not actually do the fundraising.

How long does it take to receive funds from a contributor?

Typically, the funds should be received in your bank account in about 5 to 7 business days from the time a contribution is made on your website. The bank must approve the funds before we can send them to your bank account. As soon as they approve the funds, they will be sent directly to the bank account that was provided when you set up the account. In order to be considered PCI Level 1 compliant, which offers the safest and most secure processing, we must follow the banking cycle rules and regulations.

How long does it take to create an account?

The set up time to create a free account takes about 5 minutes to enter in your information. Once your information has been validated, Raise the Money will verify that your campaign has been registered through the local or state offices. After the account has been verified, the account will be activated within 24 hours.

How much do you charge for your services?

Our standard rate is 4.9%. We do not have any set up fees, monthly fees, no charges per transaction, and no hidden fees. We simply charge for 4.9% rate for all of our services that we provide.
